Tinman - AEP
The  AEP (advanced elementary program) classes are provided for students who qualify for gifted and talented instruction.  We use a pull-out program in which students come to the AEP classroom for differentiated instruction one time a week.  3rd grade AEP classes are 2 hours 5 minutes  and 4th and 5th grade classes are 3 hours 20 minutes.  I teach AEP at 3 different elementary schools in our district, so I am only at Congaree on Monday, Thursday, and Friday.  I can be reached at school at 755-7430 or by email at stinman@lex2.org.  Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions about the AEP program.

Each grade studies 4 different academic units during the course of the year (one per grading period).  3rd grade units include:  Leap Into Research (Research strategies), Inventors and Inventions, Fairy Tales, and Journeys and Destinations, a William and Mary literature unit.

4th grade classes study  geography facts and concepts in the Travel Bug unit,  they build and wire houses in the Electricity City unit, they learn about the Olympic games and the country in which they're being held during the 3rd quarter Olympics unit, and then finish up the year by exploring patterns in literature and our world in a William and Mary unit on patterns.

5th grade students will write autobiographies and  read autobiographies written by their favorite authors in our first unit, and then during the  second quarter they will  discover how our country's legal system works in our Liberty and Justice for All unit.    During the 3rd nine weeks, 5th graders will  be learning about the Olympic games and the country hosting the current Olympics.  We will wrap up the year with an awesome unit on physics as the students  study about roller coasters in our Life Is a Scream unit.

Cool Word Alert!
Ashlyn M. thinks that "simultaneously" is a cool word because it contains each vowel and it also has a "y"!

Can you find any other cool words?
